Norfolk Broads: Day 2

Sunday 8th July: On our second day of boating on the Norfolk Broads (photos from our first afternoon are here), we motored around the rest of South Walsham Broad, then went along River Bure to the River Thure and up to Potter Heigham. Then we began working our way back along the rivers, taking a detour up Womack Water, then cruising up the River Ant, squeezing under Ludham Bridge, as far as Sutton and Stalham, before going back to Barton Water to spend the night.

We putt-putted round the rest of South Walsham Broad first thing in the morning.

A drizzly morning

Like a shark fin through green grass?

Boats are probably the easiest forms of transport for these holiday cottages lining the River Thurne, on the way to Potter Heigham.

Tight tacks required for these 1930’s boats to negotiate the narrow rivers as well as other boats.

On Womanck Water, heading towards Ludham.

Pretty reflections of the evening clouds while sightseeing along the River Ant to Sutton and Stalham.

We dropped our mud weight for the night in Barton Water. It didn’t take long for the geese to find us!

Our neighbours for the night.

Light was constantly changing
